Well, maybe. Or rather, there is something I'd like to propose.

I'd like to breed a Sensu Oricorio egg for a friend of mine as repayment for something he is doing for me. I have a Sensu Oricorio myself too. So, really, I was wondering if you'd be up for breeding them together. At least that way I'd know for sure the resulting offspring would be a Sensu Oricorio. I mean, I do have a Ditto I could use but, ah, I don't think Amelia would be willing to breed with him.

[He is not very fabulous at all.]

She can be pretty picky.

[He does!]

Oh! Well, I'm okay with it of course, but it's up to Azuma if he wants to do anything like that. Just a sec!

[Kazuki gets up and walks outside, where he calls and whistles for his Oricorio. There's a sound of flapping wings, and Azuma alights on his shoulder. He re-arranges his feathers in a particular manner. If he's being seen, he has to look impeccable, no matter who it is.]

Do you have Amelia with you?

Yes, she is right here.

[He calls for her, and soon a Sensu Oricorio lands on his shoulder as well with sweeping elegant gestures that are absolutely unnecessary but also, she must. Because she is the most fabulous. Fanning out her feathers in front of her beak, she peers over the top of them at the gear and the unfamiliar (but graceful) Oricorio on it.]

This is Amelia.

She's gorgeous! What do you think, Azuma? Would you like to go meet her?

[Azuma is an Oricorio of very exacting tastes, and he turns his head to eye Amelia critically. Hmm. Well, she's certainly presentable. But he would have to meet her in person and see her dancing to make any decisions. Any brood he might father would have to be suitable heirs of his bloodline.]

[He was quite full of himself for a glorified parrot. But he eventually nodded.]

Cool! You know where Armin lives, you think you can make the flight on your own?

[Definitely. Azuma has grown fond of Kazuki, but he wasn't one of the Pokemon that needed to be with him all the time. He could do this on his own.]

[Amelia certainly wasn't going to breed with the first flying pokemon that comes along either. Any mate of hers would have to know everything about being fabulous and presenting one's self, and never letting anyone see you at anything but your very best. Azuma looks put together enough on screen, but can he talk the talk, walk the walk, dance the dance? She'll see.]

Great. There is plenty of room here for them to fly and get to know each other. I wouldn't want them to do this unless they are 100% on board.

[Partially because Armin just cares so much about his pokemon. But also a little bit because trying to get Amelia to do anything against her will would lead you to getting pecked. And he likes his body without extra holes in it.]

I definitely agree with you there. [Kazuki was totally in the same boat. He only just recently had his first nest because he never forced his Pokemon to do something they didn't want to. And he was too much of a romantic to take something like breeding lightly.] I'll let you know when he's on his way, and you can give me updates, okay?

Of course.

Oh, and speaking of updates, there is something I should tell you.

[He was already pretty happy throughout the conversation, but now his eyes just start to shine bright.]

I bought a boat.

Woah, seriously? Like, a big boat? The kind that you could really take out to sea?

Yes. In fact, it's big enough to live on. Permanently.

[This isn't just a little boat Armin can take out onto the sea once in a while. This is a home. A floating home.]

Uwaaaah! That must be like, a dream for you! So you can be out with your Water Pokemon all the time!

Good job, Armin! That must've taken a lot of hard work to save up for!

Well, I was very fortunate. Shiro never let us pay any rent, so all that money just accumulated. And honestly, I would do the work I do at the marine centre even if it was a volunteer position, so I am really lucky that I do get paid for it. Plus beating the Elite Four helped too.

[Plus, growing up with very little money means he also isn't really prone to spendthrift, to begin with. He's the type who'd buy second-hand clothes, not because he needs to, but simply because it seems like a more sensible decision.]

Oh yeah, I forgot about the prize money! I mean, they have to make it worth your while, when you have to make the trek through Victory Road to get there.

Have you been out on it yet? Did you give it a name?

Well, I feel like the experience in and of itself was worth it already. I'm definitely thinking of visiting the area again in the future. But I guess that would be true for some other people.

[People who have no appreciation for the goddamn beautiful of nature.]

Not yet. The guy I bought it from got too old to live and work on it, so it got neglected a bit the last few years. I'll still be living with Shiro until I can get it all fixed up.

I... I hadn't even thought yet about naming it.

[Oh no. Not naming things. Armin's kryptonite.]

You've gotta name it! It's bad luck to go out on a boat that doesn't have a name!

Wait, really?

Yeah! I'm pretty sure that's the whole reason sailors give them names at all.

... I really hadn't thought about names yet. I wouldn't know where to begin. Is there some sort of... theme people generally follow?

Um, normally it's like, a woman's name, or a name related to the sea, or sometimes a pun...

Well, I don't think I really know any women to name a boat after...

[He already named a pokemon after Mikasa. He can't name everything after her. And even if he wanted to, this boat doesn't really suit her name. Maybe if it was a sleeker, quicker model. But not this type of slow and languid thing.]

You can always just choose a name you like! And you have time to think about it while you fix her up.

That's true.

When it is done, you should come and check it out. We could even go out onto the ocean if you wanted. You could bring Shimizu and give him a chance to really stretch his flippers.

Do you think that there's enough room for two people to stay on it?

Sure. There is even a bed fit for two!

[Wait, in his excitement about his new boat, Armin just said something weird, didn't he? Something that could be taken in a completely different way and oh no! That is super not what he meant.]

N-not that we would be sharing the bed, of course! I just meant that it is a clear indication that this boat was meant for at least two people! Nothing weird!

[Kazuki gave Armin a confused look at first-- why was he so flustered? If there wasn't much room on the boat, sharing a bed was understandable-- but that soon dissolved into amusement and laughter as he understood Armin's embarrassment.]

Don't worry, I didn't think anything of it! Even if we have to share a bed-- that's fine, right?
