You can teach your Pokemon to dive with you. Some learn to naturally, but most need to be taught. There is a person here at the research centre who teaches Pokemon hot to in her off hours. I've taught most of mine to, but still, even with an oxygen tank, there is only so far down you can go before it starts affecting your health. Which, I am afraid to say, is still very far off from how deep a Wailord or other pokemon can dive.
Oh, yeah. Something about water pressure, right? And there's something... I don't know what it's called. A sickness you can get if you don't use your scuba gear right?
That's why you should never ascend too rapidly if you've been diving. Which is also part of a pokemon learns when learning Dive. For most of them, their bodies are better designed for diving, so they can shoot upwards as quickly as they want. Which is very dangerous if a diver is holding onto them. So you have to teach them to swim upwards more slowly and make frequent stops.
[Armin has never been a physical exercise sort of person, but diving is something he loves. Not because he loves pushing his body (and honestly, swimming is pretty gentle on the body) but mainly because he loves seeing what is out there.]
There is a really beautiful reef where I work. The centre I work for rents out wetsuits, tanks and Wailmer to tourists who want to go diving, but I also spend a lot of time there myself. It's one of the best places to see Water Pokemon in their natural habitat.
Spring is an excellent time to visit. It's not as busy here then.
I'm going to be travelling for the next month or so, but if you want to visit afterwards, I could definitely take you down to the reef. And show you some of my favourite areas of it.
As long as you don't mind it being in the latter half of the month. There is a reasonable chance my trip will run a bit into April. Though I really hope to be back by Jean's birthday.
I think so. Though I'm not sure if that is something who will end up organising it. Still, it's going to be his eighteenth birthday, so we really ought to throw a proper party for it.
Well, I don't think FCAB counts as a hobby exactly, but he does spend a lot of time on that and anything coffee related. Oh, and he does enjoy reading, especially Stephen Kingler novels. Though I am not really sure at this point which of his books he does and doesn't have. He likes gardening. He had a bit of a garden back on the islands, but there isn't much chance to do that while he is travelling around. I know he can sketch and draw too, but I'm not sure if he's done a lot of that recently.
[Lived, travelled and trained together. Armin spent a lot of time breathing in that damn Axe.]
You're welcome.
I was thinking... perhaps I should give him a pokemon for his birthday. Mt Silver and Victory Road are supposed to be home to many rare and powerful pokemon. But I also don't want to impose on him.
I don't think Jean would find it an imposition. He has a lot of Pokemon, right? I don't know what his theme is though, aside from all his Voltorb and Electrode.
He likes to battle, right? Maybe just a really strong or rare Pokemon would be good enough. Tough types hang around Victory Road and Mt. Silver, right?
