No, definitely not snubbing him. Just keeping them safe and in one place, as if she has any power over that.
Sasha doesn't really want to tell him how she's been, so she politely pretends she doesn't hear that part and answers the rest of his questions. "I want to help with your thing. The inn. Someone told me about it and they said you need help taking care of Pokemon and I know how to take care of Pokemon!"
"Oh, so that's what you meant!" You know, with the whole overzealous shouting at the beginning. "That's great! I'm still in the process of finding a good spot for everything, but when I do there so much work that needs to be done. Taking care of Pokemon included!"
Forgive her, for she is easily excited. Surely a bad habit Shadis would like to shake out of her.
"Uh huh! And I have a lot of Pokemon people left me so I know what they are like when they are sad and lonely." Because this is all about Pokemon and not because Sasha would love something to keep her distracted from... well, life. "What kind of work?"
"Yeah, that's one of the big reasons why I decided to do this too. I've got a lot of orphans and rescues, and I want Pokemon like that to have a place they can be themselves while they get ready for whatever they want to do next."
"Well, the building probably won't be totally ready for what I want to use it for, so there'll be construction work to do..." Kazuki paused and hummed quietly as he tried to gather his thoughts. "Then the grounds need to be prepared. I want to make a garden so I can grow herbs and things to make remedies for Pokemon and people. And even once everything's ready, I need people to volunteer or work to keep everything running. It's a pretty big undertaking!"
Kazuki can't see it, but Sasha frowns at the mention of construction. She can handle a hammer and nails just fine, but that's not where her passion lies. There was hope she could just walk up in the place and immediately start helping, but if she's gotta wait, she's gotta wait.
"I know how to garden! I have one here. Just berries, but I can grow herbs too. And I know how to use plants for cuts and bruises too. Not like a doctor, but it's enough that it kept us alive in the village back home."
Even just a willing hand to take instruction from a pro would help in the construction! Kazuki sure doesn't know how to do any of that either, he'll either be hiring someone or finding a friend that has the right experience.
"That'd be a big help! I spent most of my time in Sinnoh at the Herb Shop learning how all that works, but I'm still just an amateur. You learned to do that kind of stuff in your world?"
If there's anything Sasha is, it's willing and able. And curious.
"A little bit. We weren't near any doctors where I grew up, so if I got hurt while hunting, I needed to know how to fix myself up. And then in the military, if we were in the field, we had to help each other out because it's not like we have hospitals out there too, so I learned a lot!"
Though there might be a difference between Pokemon first aid and human first aid, applying a bandage is the same, right?
"Oh, that's right! You're from the same world as Armin and Annie. Where things are, uh, tough."
Things were more than tough, and Kazuki was very well aware of it. He didn't want to linger on that note either, so he bulled back into further conversation.
"That's great though, that means you have real experience. I'm sure I could learn a thing or two from you."
"Yes, yes I am." Definitely an understatement, but luckily for the both of them, Sasha isn't interested in continuing that line of conversation either.
"Maybe," she muses, though way more interested in doing rather than teaching right now. "But I want to help. You don't have to pay me. I still have my job at Fed-Exeggcute so I don't need any money."
Surely that should be music to Kazuki's tiny start-up ears.
"Anything you can do, Sasha. I really appreciate it," the smile in his voice was quite evident. "Armin's already made a big donation too. It's great to have you guys in my corner."
That's Armim, for you. She's not even surprised to hear he's helped out financially.
"Well, when people need help, you have to help them. It's the right thing to do." Also the kind thing to do and she's all about upping her kinda quota lately. "Just let me know when you need me."
"That's part of it. There's no way I could afford something in one of the cities... But that'd ruin the point too, since I want it to be a natural setting. But I like Azalea because it's close to the bullet train in Goldenrod, so it's easy for people to access."

Back from hi8toes!
